Angelina Jolie set to make feature film directorial debut

Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie is set to make her feature film directorial debut.   A love story set during the Bosnian war, the film focuses on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship.

Based on an original screenplay written by Jolie, the actors will be solely compromised of various ethnicities from the region of the former Yugoslavia.

Jolie will produce the film alongside GK Films’ Academy Award winning producer Graham King and King’s business partner Tim Headington.

Jolie, King and Headington most recently collaborated on the upcoming film “The Tourist” starring Jolie and Johnny Depp and directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, set for theatrical release on December 10th through Columbia pictures.

In addition to “The Tourist,” GK Films produced “The Town,” written and directed by Ben Affleck, set to be released by Warner Bros. on September 17, 2010.  The company is currently shooting the 3-D film “Hugo Cabret,” directed by Martin Scorsese.

  • she is awesome looking foward to seeing this movie

  • Yes, she is really cool, not thinking about herself but having world wide view, which affects many.

  • I am deeply concerned about this movie. This was underscored with A.Jolie’s press release stating that her movie would be a ‘love story and not a political statement.’ ‘Serb’ ‘Bosnian,’ ‘Croat’ are marked by politics no matter the context. Those markers become even more charged with reference to the war and especially with reference to a love story. Once you identify the protagonists by their ethnic identities you ARE making a political statement. I hope A. Jolie will be aided by the people who live(d) the context.

  • “The action follows war events with young Muslim woman ending up in a Serbian concentration camp from where she is somehow saved by the young Serb. Their love becomes passionate but impossible’.”

If this is the story of the movie then it is truly disgusting. Thousands of women were systematically raped in those serbian concentration camps during the war, so to try to romanticize it with an love story between a prisoner women and a guard or serbian soldier is very, very wrong.

  • Like I expected, you don´t even dare to publish my comment. Nevertheless, judging from the Rade Serbedzia interview, this movie looks like it´s going to be a new slap in the face to all the victims of genocide in Bosnia.

  • I’m looking forward to seeing this movie, but I also have high expectations, since I’m from Serbia. Still, I trust Angelina to do an amazing job. She has shown true, amazing talent and passion through every project she’s done so far.

I wonder how the executives will choose the cast for the movie. I would most definitely apply for an audition if there was an open casting call for this.

  • I applaud Jolie’s effort to tackle a very sensitive subject and from what I hear the script takes a balanced view on the conflict. Working with a local cast will certainly help.

  • Andrew Schneider

This is a very important story to be told. Companies like GK-Films and Participant Media that make socially conscious films on large budgets that can entertain and reach an audience are not only more popular and successful now, but also more important now that ever. Props to GK-Films for producing this. Also excited to see if Jolie can deliver as director. She has a great team behind her!

  • Skip Hop Studio Diaper Tote Handbag is awesome. So quite a few wallets – as well as not really these little, useless pockets, either. Almost all of the pockets tend to be a good size and seriously help keep everything organized. The handles are a wonderful length and fit nicely over the actual shoulder; the tackle straps additionally remain place on my shoulder, which is actually crucial as soon as you’re transporting a infant. The tote looks great, too. Not too fancy, but not too casual. (I have it in black) The material is soft (can’t assume of a better word) so it’s easy to squeeze in to tight spaces – but yet it is sturdy. I have a Fleurville Lexi tote and I love it, too, but this handbag is actually kind of rigid. I assume this Skip*Hop will turn out to be my daily bag. It is a bit large – so if you are not really in to huge totes this may well be much better as an over-night baby diaper handbag.

  • i like you angelina jolie you best

  • Congratulations on a very good site

  • Thanks for a useful information

  • I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  • Fascinating the way you believe regarding %BLOGTITLE%. brbr The only thing that I will say is that if you intend to apply it in this way you will need completely ready to perform the trouble. brbr You know this isn’t going to be typical when everyone is so very laid back today.

  • I could have hoped that Brad Pitt was in the movie The Tourist. Shot in stunningly beautiful Venice, the only thing missing was Brad’s dashing style. -Izay Cabrera

  • I just saw The Tourist in the cinema, as always, Angelina Jolie was stunningly hot. Johnny Depp had put on more weight when compared to Pirates of Carribean, I didn’t even notice it was him for the first 20 minutes! -Izay Cabrera
